DMCA Policy — Copyright Removal Request
SelfDownloader respects intellectual property rights and takes copyright law seriously. This page explains our DMCA policy and how to submit a valid copyright removal request.
Our Position on Copyright
SelfDownloader provides tools that help users download publicly accessible media from third-party platforms. We do not host, store, or re-distribute any third-party content. Our tools act as technical facilitators — they help users access content that is already publicly accessible via URLs they provide.
We respond quickly to valid copyright complaints and work with rights holders to address legitimate concerns.
Who Should Submit a DMCA Notice?
Submit a DMCA notice if:
- You are a content creator, copyright holder, or their authorized representative
- You believe SelfDownloader's tools are facilitating infringement of your copyright in a way we can address
- You have a good-faith belief that the use is unauthorized
Important note: SelfDownloader does not host third-party content. If your content is published on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, or another platform, submitting a takedown directly to that platform is the most effective action. Once content is removed from the source, it can no longer be downloaded through SelfDownloader.
How to Submit a Valid DMCA Notice
Visit our Contact page and send your request with subject line: "DMCA Takedown Request"
Your notice MUST include all of the following:
1. Your Identity
Full legal name, title (if representing a company), mailing address, phone number, and email address.
2. Identification of the Copyrighted Work
Clear description of the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed. If multiple works, provide a representative list.
3. Identification of the Infringing Content
The specific URL(s) on selfdownloader.com facilitating the alleged infringement. General statements are insufficient — provide specific page URLs.
4. Good Faith Statement
A statement that you have a good faith belief that use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or law.
5. Accuracy Statement
A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are authorized to act on the copyright owner's behalf.
6. Signature
Your physical or electronic signature.
What Happens After We Receive Your Notice
Upon receiving a valid DMCA notice, we will:
- Acknowledge receipt within 2 business days
- Review the notice to confirm it meets legal requirements
- Take appropriate action — which may include disabling or modifying specific tool functionality, adding platform-specific restrictions, or other appropriate measures
- Notify you of the action taken within 5 business days
Incomplete notices may be returned for correction. We cannot act on notices that do not meet legal requirements.
Counter-Notification
If you believe your content was incorrectly targeted by a DMCA notice, submit a counter-notification via our Contact page with subject: "DMCA Counter-Notification"
Counter-notifications must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature
- Identification of the removed content and its original location
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the content was removed in error
- Your name, address, and phone number
- Consent to jurisdiction of the relevant federal court
Repeat Infringers
SelfDownloader maintains a policy of taking appropriate action against users determined to be repeat copyright infringers.
We respond to all valid DMCA notices promptly. Frivolous or bad-faith notices may be reported to appropriate authorities.
